The Mix Fold 3 will succeed the Mix Fold 2 which was launched in August 2022. Details about the smartphone remain sketchy at this point, with a few hardware specs rumoured. However, the same tipster had earlier hinted that the upcoming foldable smartphone could come with a USB 3.2 port, a rarity among Android smartphones. The tipster had also revealed the smartphone could come with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, indicating that the hardware under the hood will be in line with the most powerful flagship smartphones of 2023.

Xiaomi will have the choice to power the foldable smartphone with either the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC or the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+, both of which have been used to power foldable smartphones this year.
