Kate Henshaw calls out INEC for disenfranchising her and 20 others
Kemi Filani recalls that actress, Kate Henshaw called out INEC for disenfranchising her and twenty others in her polling unit during the 2023 presidential election held on 25th February.
The veteran lamented that she has not been able to cast her vote because the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) (an electronic device designed to read Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and authenticate voters) says she is not registered.
Henshaw further disclosed that she found her name on the register on the wall and on INEC register however, she can’t vote. She called on the person in charge of INEC in Lagos to find a quick solution to the problem.
While noting that she won’t take things easy with INEC because they are playing with her destiny, she called on international media bodies like Cable Network News (CNN), and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to take note of what is happening.
She said: “You people are playing with my destiny. INEC eh! I registered, I transferred my card, i picked up my PVC now you BVAS is saying I’m not registered. But I have seen my name on the register on the wall and in your website. What are you guys doing? Its like you people want problem with me. INEC, CNN, BBC anybody watching this election from out side of the country, INEC is playing games. its not just me, there are so many people who have not been found on the BVAS. Please whomever is in charge of INEC Lagos, You need to come and sought it out here”.
Kate Henshaw write to INEC
Kemi Filani reported hours ago that Kate Henshaw wrote a note of warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the gubernatorial election slated to hold on 18th March.
Reminiscing on the lapses which happened during the 2023 general election held on 25th February, Kate Henshaw took to microblogging platform to urge the electoral body to do better. She asked that their staff get all the necessary equipment ready in order to avoid repeating history.
She tweeted: “Calling on @ineclagos @inecnigeria staff. Please pack your equipment well this night o. Bring our complete BVAS plus ink pad, cellotape, pens & enough ballot papers to avoid stories that touch. We don’t want a repeat of what happened last time. Come on time too. Tanx.
